Parent Letter Term 1. 2013

Welcome to Room 4, this year we have a mix of Year 3 and 4 and will be part of the Junior syndicate joining in with Years 1-4.

General –

• Library – Wednesday

• Swimming – daily, but as it gets cooler please bring a jumper.

• Please name your child’s clothing.

• Sunhats need to be worn this Term

• Check out our Room 4 blog. Google Tomarata School cabu, then click on Tomarata Times Room 4, please leave a message.

• Tomarata School offers private lessons by visiting specialist teachers. Drama with Lucy, Piano, Violin and Flute with Chrissy Coop, and Guitar with Mike. We also have an Active Learning class for extension with Lyn Williams. Ask the office for the phone number if you would like your child to enroll in these private lessons or enquire about the cost.

Homework –

• Reading homework – Individual readers will continue, but for children who are above there reading age I will encourage them to become an independent reader and choose their own books.

• Spelling homework– Is taken from the Smart words spelling lists and is based on learning the letter sounds. You will be given the Terms spelling master list and also on Monday your child will fill in a Look/Copy/Cover/Write sheet that will have that weeks spelling on. Spelling will be tested on Friday in the back of their homework book.

• Mathswhizz – 20 minutes a night.

• Topic related activity or worksheet – Given on Monday and returned for marking on Friday.

• Health– Healthy body Wastewise – composting, reducing waste.

• Social Studies – Unique me Science – The nature of science

• Waste audit on school rubbish Week 4 19th Feb

• Swimming sports day (Year 4 ) Friday 1st March

• Easter 29th – 2nd April

• Athletics day Wednesday 3rd April

• Parent interviews Monday 8th and Wednesday 10th April
