Today we investigated potato crisps and rice crackers. We used our senses to work and think like scientists. We checked out the nutritional information on the packets and discovered that crisps had more than 30 grams of fat per 100 grams. The rice crackers had far less fat in them so we investigated to see if they burnt the same way as the crisps. One of the crisps burned for 2 minutes 32 seconds. The rice crackers surprisingly burn well but not as long as the crisps. The crisps might taste good but they are definitely a sometimes food not an everyday food. We investigated whether lettuce would burn but discovered it didn’t.

I am impressed how you used your science learning to help you make healthy choices. I still don’t eat corn chips because of the stored energy in the fat/oil. I do find it hard to resist salty potato chips. Hmmm. Decisions, decisions. At least science helps me to be informed about what to eat. I need to exercise will power though to stay away from empty calories.
Great work. Loved to see you capturing learning through photos and journals.
