We investigated the strength of balloons by sitting on them, putting them under a table and standing on the table, and putting skewers through them. They were very strong. We were surprised to find they supported our weight. We were surprised the skewer didn’t pop the balloon.

Balloons are a great way to investigate interactions, the properties of gases, how different components work in a system. Has anybody tried to push an inflated balloon into a bucket of water? What will happen” Why?

I remember rubbing a blown up balloon on my jersey and holding it up on the ceiling … maybe you could try this at home?
We will have to investigate why they didn’t pop.
