Today the senior school worked on a technology challenge involving creating a poppy. Their brief was to design a giant poppy to stand as high above the floor as possible using the materials they were given. Each group had 20 sheets of newspaper, 4 m string, 10 m sellotape, 4 sheets of red paper and one piece of black paper. Egg cartons were also available. The finished product had to be self supporting, look like a poppy, stand as tall as possible and as wide as possible. The groups all had different ideas about how to construct their poppies. At the end of their allocated time the groups then judged the poppies using the criteria they were given. One group’s poppy stood out. Congratulations to Brandon, Mia, Loyd, Jayde, Dylan and Alex. Their poppy was one of only a very few that was self supporting.
