With Easter weekend approaching it was a great opportunity to put our cooking skills into practise and make some Hot Cross Buns. We mixed the dry ingredients together, the egg, butter and milk mixture together and mixed them altogether. We kneaded for about 10 minutes to encourage the yeast to work. We put the dough in a bowl and set it in the sun for an hour to rise. After punching it down and separating it into bun sizes, we kneaded some more and shaped it and put it on the tray. We left it again to rise before putting it into the oven to bake. The result was delicious. We had some interesting shaped buns but they tasted pretty good.
