Marae Vist by Maasi Schaumkel
On Friday Rooms 3, 2 and 1 went to the wharenui at Rodney College. When we got off the bus there were two big girls waiting for us. When we got to the wharenui a College girl welcomed us on. Awatea replied back.After that we went inside and Sam and I did our Mihi. Then we sang a Waiata and I was the leader of it. Next we got into groups and I was in the group that went to learn the Haka. We also had a turn with the Taiaha. We performed the Haka to the rest of the classes. It was cool.
Marae visit by Awatea Heke
On Friday I went to a wharenui and I sang the reply at the Powhiri. Mrs Gore and the Maori teacher were standing beside me. I was very proud of myself. Shona and I went to learn the poi. Then we did the stick games. At the end we performed to the rest of the juniors. The college kids sang to us. It was an awesome day!
