Room 4 and Room 5 visited Tomarata Lake today to check the quality of the water.  Shelley and Rachel from Wai care brought all the equipment we needed to carry out water tests.  We checked the clarity of the water by looking through long glass cylinders.  We tested the Ph level and  the oxygen level.  We took the temperature of the water and we looked at the invertebrates that live in the water to see what different bugs lived in the lake.  The results were very positive.  The Ph levels were good and so were the oxygen levels, despite the lake being quite still when we visited.   The temperatures were also good.  We found five different invertebrates.  We are pretty excited to learn that Tomarata Lake has the black mud fish living in it.  It is quite rare and not found in many places.  We think our local community value the lake as a great place to visit and explore and use.
