Felting with Mrs Franz

On Friday Room 1 were collected by Kyel from Room 7 and taken to the new Rata Room. We sat on chairs in a circle and Mrs Franz told us where wool comes from, showed us pictures, passed some wool around and we got to card it. After this we moved to another table and Kyel had prepared some containers of water. We used soap to make our hands and the water really soapy. We picked a stone and the coloured wool and wet it in the soapy water and folded it around the stone. We got to pick lots of colours, wrapping around the stone many times. The last part was to roll the felt in our soapy hands and make a ball. We had to be gentle, like we were holding an egg. We had to keep going and it began to shrink. Now the balls are drying and next Friday Mrs Franz said it will be MAGIC! We can’t wait!!!! Here are some photos of the process.
