Our Topic this term is “What is special to New Zealand?
We learnt that korowai are very special cloaks that can be handed down through whanau. We found out that most korowai are made from feathers and white muka (white flax fibre that is inside green harakeke or flax leaves).
In Room 3 we are a learning whanau so we decided to make our own korowai. We used our colouring skills to create beautiful feathers. We wrote our ‘mihi’ on the feathers to tell people all about our whanau and where we live.
Your korowai look stunning!
I wish I could make one
Cool, I like the feathers.
That sounds like a fun one. Our one is Why is the Treaty of Waitangi important?
That looks so much fun. I wish I was there. I hope they all had fun. So what were you making. Once Willow was there too. Love from Kyah Room 5
