As part of the Room 7 Dare programme Bernie Watt arranged a visit from Paul, an airport security officer with his dog Flame to demonstrate how our security dogs work. We were all lucky to see Flame in action. She could detect the odour from drugs and responded by sitting beside the person where the odour came from. We all watched as Flame indicated on Mr Stuart and not on anyone else. All the dogs used by the police are labradors and they are all trained in Australia. Dogs are trained to detect different sorts of things like food, cash and drugs. They check out the mail that comes into NZ as well as people. We all really enjoyed watching Flame in action.

I wish I could have a job like that.
The dog was cute and it was exceptional.
