As part of our “Save the Planet” topic this term we learned how paper can be recycled. We used the paper from our recycle bins, tore it up into little pieces and soaked it in water for a couple of days. Water was added and then the paper was pulped in a food processor. It was put back in the large container for the next step. The frame with a gauze insert was used to skim a layer of the pulp. Excess water was removed and it was put on a piece of cardboard before the gauze layer was removed. There was all sorts of coloured paper in the mix so the paper came out in a range of colours and textures. It can be used to make cards or write messages on.
