Hi everyone
Thanks for all the registrations – it’s great to see so many kids keen to play. Thank you also to the parents / caregivers who have volunteered to assist with coaching, managing or in some other helpful capacity! I will be in touch with you individually over the next few days to discuss who is taking on which responsibilities etc.
Clearly there’s concern around Covid-19. Netball NZ has issued guidance in the past day which our Rodney Association and the Tomarata Club are following. This means we are unable to begin training yet and will not be running trials. Competition can’t start before 2nd May but our Junior competition wasn’t scheduled to begin until 9th May so at this stage that date remains in place.
Fortunately canceling trials does not have a significant effect, as our teams are looking fairly clear cut based on experience and numbers. We also still have a few weeks to get training underway. To make team numbers work we need to request a couple of dispensations for players to play out of their year level so I will communicate team lists, coaches, training days etc in due course once we have those requests confirmed.
As you are all aware the situation with Covid-19 is changing daily so I will update as needed if / when our netball is affected further. Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime.
